UrbanThings wins a new contract from One Ticket to provide a public transport ticketing app in Edinburgh and East/Central Scotland.
UrbanThings has developed a cutting-edge mobile application for One Ticket Limited to benefit bus and tram passengers in Edinburgh & East/Central Scotland.
The One Ticket app will allow passengers to purchase, download, and use a multi-operator bus and tram ticket more quickly from their mobile phone and see instant, up-to-date transport information. This unique multi-operator ticket will allow unlimited travel on services from more than thirty participating local bus operators and Edinburgh Trams.
This initiative aims to provide convenience (take the first bus that comes along: no more fumbling for loose change), a choice of tickets to suit different passengers’ needs, and value for money. With everything in the same place. buying a travel ticket will be simpler and faster on the app.
The One Ticket app features include:
- Easy and secure ticketing and live transport information;
- 1-day, 7-day, 28-day and annual tickets;
- 3, 5 and 10 day ticket bundles;
- See when your bus, tram or train is coming with live service information;
- Your phone is your ticket – use your phone to show your ticket;
- Buy in advance and activate your ticket when you first wish to use it;
- No need for a photo ID when using this new mobile app;
- Journey planning included.
The mobile app works in the following way:
Passengers will be able to choose a geographic area using the maps and list of communities provided on the app. After selecting the type of ticket required, all they will need to do is create an account and link a credit/debit card to it to complete the purchase. All tickets can be activated when passengers are ready to travel.
The solution will be based upon the proven, existing transport software platform UrbanHub that has been deployed to customers across the UK and Europe. By working with One Ticket, UrbanThings will continue to enhance their passenger apps to provide better vehicle tracking, journey planning and fare information, offering passengers a pleasant experience, and ultimately, encourage the use of shared transport.
