First operators to sell m-Tickets in Bus Checker announced
UrbanThings’ Bus Checker app is about to hit a major milestone release later this month. Bus Checker X, the 10th version of the app, is about to be released.
The popular app first began in 2011 and has brought multi-modal real-time travel information and journey planning to over 3 million users. Later in the month, we’ll be launching a long-awaited mobile ticketing feature and enhanced user interface. The new update is now in a beta phase with nearly 1,000 ‘super fans’ testing the app across the UK.
The first operators have signed up pre-launch
The UrbanThings team is getting excited about the launch of Bus Checker X and it seems that public transport operators are too. Reading Buses, Midland Classic and Hatton’s Travel are amongst the first operators who’ve signed up to retail their mobile tickets.
Carl Partridge, CEO at UrbanThings said “It’s encouraging to see so many operators keen to get involved. UrbanThings’ mission is to make travel simple. The app already has an extensive user base, so we’re thrilled to be able to offer this extensive, simple and low-risk retail channel to operators, to sell their tickets in the app that their passengers are already using.”
Later this year, Bus Checker will also complete its integration of UK Bus Open Data System (BODS) data. Subsequently, it will be even simpler and quicker for operators to be included in the app.
The app is available to download in the App Store and Play Store. The new ticketing feature will be available to the public at the end of the month.
